Scouts are special military units used to gather intel on other villages or oases. They help you check enemy troops, resources, and defenses before you raid, attack, or defend.
To scout correctly, send only scout units. Do not send normal troops or your hero with them, or the action will not work as a scout mission.
Scout unit names and tribe differences are covered in the article “Every Tribe’s Eyes”.
How to scout
Open the Map (You can skip to step 4. If you start from the Rally Point).
Click the village or oasis you want to scout.
Select Send troops.
Enter your scouts only.
Choose Attack or Raid. If only scouts are sent, it will be treated as scouting.
Choose one scout option:
Resources and troops: shows resources and troops stationed there.
Defenses and troops: shows defensive buildings and troops stationed there.
Confirm.
What scouts can show
Scout reports can show:
Troops currently stationed in the target village or oasis (Reinforcements currently stationed there also)
Resources, if you selected resource scouting
Defensive buildings (namely: Rally Point, walls, administrative buildings (Residence, etc.) and on game worlds with ships – Harbour), if you selected defense scouting
What scouts cannot show
Scouts do not show troops that are:
Reinforcing another village or oasis
Returning home or on n the way somewhere to attack or raid
A scouting battle report only shows what is inside the exact target when the scouts arrive.
Defending against scouts
Scouts stationed in your village help block enemy spying you, so if an enemy arrives they will engage in battle with those trying to peek inside. Allied scouts reinforcing your village also count in this engagement.
If the defender has enough scouting power, enemy scouts can be killed and the attacker may receive no information. Scout strength is affected by scout numbers, upgrades, and defensive bonuses such as the wall.If you want to know more about this you can test the possible enemy forces in the battle simulator in the Rally point.
It is recommended to train enough scouts and upgrade them in the Smithy from time to time. Number of scouting units matter, especially when not knowing the amount of units that could come anytime to spy your towns.
Scout reports
The attacker receives a scout report only if at least one scout survives and returns.
The defender receives a report only if at least one attacking scout is killed. If the scouting succeeds cleanly with no scout losses, the defender will not notice it.
Useful notes
During a truce, scouting is still possible even when normal attacks are blocked.
Farm Lists can also be used for scouting if the entry contains only scout units.
Scouts do not get caught in Gaul traps, and scout reports do not show how many traps are in the village after spying.
