Every action in Travian: Legends — constructing buildings, training troops, or researching upgrades — costs resources. Understanding how resources work is one of the most important foundations for new and returning players alike.
Resource | Stored in | Produced By |
Lumber | Warehouse | Woodcutter |
Clay | Warehouse | Clay pit |
Iron | Warehouse | Iron mine |
Crop | Granary | Cropland |
Crop is different to other resources, as it is required to feed the army and the population of the village (determined by the buildings and resource fields). If you cannot feed the army, the units will starve and die, however the village and its buildings are not affected.
Each village has resource fields surrounding it. These fields produce resources automatically over time. There are four types of field, one for each resource.
You can upgrade each field individually to increase its hourly output. Higher-level fields produce more, but each upgrade costs more resources and time than the last. Upgrading resource fields is your most reliable long-term economic investment.
The starting village has 6 croplands and 4 of each other resource field type. However, not all villages have the same mix. Each spot on the map may have slightly different distribution of resource fields. Especially important are so called croppers — spots that have 9, 15 or on some special game worlds even 18 croplands — and are strategically very important. Not only can they support huge armies, but their economic output may in general be higher than regular villages. Players often chose a 15 cropper with good oases in reach as their capital village, where the resource fields may be expanded to higher levels.
When choosing where to settle a new village or conquer one, always check its field distribution, as it determines what role that village will play.
There are multiple ways the base production of the resource fields may be improved.
Buildings inside the village that provide a bonus. Sawmill, Brickyard and Iron Foundry improve production of wood, clay and iron respectively. Crop has 2 such buildings: Grain Mill and Bakery.
Oases attached to the village through Hero’s Mansion add their bonuses. Egyptians may further increase this bonus with their Waterworks building.

Alternatively to the video bonus, you may activate a premium bonus for Gold.
Production Bonuses
In regular villages the maximum level of resource fields is 10. In cities (on special game worlds) the maximum is 12. But in your capital village, the upgrade is only limited by costs and how much resources you may store in the village in order to pay the costs. Developing and protecting your capital is a long-term strategic priority.
The hero produces some resources as well. You can select what resources the hero should produce in the hero page. This production may be upgraded when hero levels up. The resources are automatically added to the home village of the hero, in the same way as the regular production of the village.
The hero may also get resources in his inventory, mostly from task rewards. These resources are not automatically added to the village, but you may transfer them at will to any village. This is very useful, as the resources do not need to be transported by merchants.
Resources you produce are automatically stored in your village:
Lumber, clay, and iron are held in the Warehouse
Crop is held in the Granary
Both buildings have a storage capacity limit. Once full, any resources produced above that limit are lost — your fields keep running but you gain nothing. Upgrading your Warehouse and Granary regularly ensures you never waste production.
Crop is the only resource consumed continuously. Every unit stationed in your village eats a certain amount of Crop per hour, day and night. Each hour, your village itself consumes crop equal to its population. This means your net Crop production is equal to the total production minus consumption by troops and population.
As your army grows, so does its appetite. Always make sure your Wheat Field production can keep pace with the troops you are training.
If your Granary empties while your Crop balance is still negative, your troops begin to starve. Starvation kills troops over time. Starvation Mechanics
When another player attacks your village, their troops can steal resources in your Warehouse and Granary. The Cranny building hides a portion of your resources from raiders. Some enemies might have bonuses that lower the capacity of your Cranny during the battle, but the majority of resources stored there is safe.
Upgrading your Cranny increases how much it protects. In the early game, a well-upgraded Cranny is one of the most cost-effective defences available and can significantly reduce how profitable raiding you becomes.
The simplest way to deny raiders their reward is to have nothing left to steal. Queuing building upgrades, training troops, or sending resources to allies all reduce the amount sitting in your storage. Experienced players make a habit of keeping their storage low when they know attacks are incoming.
