With their fierce reputation and storied history of conquest and exploration, the Vikings bring a wealth of new features and unique gameplay elements to the world of Travian: Northern Legends. To complete our description of the Viking tribe, let’s look at the unique features, hero abilities, and anything else associated with the Vikings. |
Viking special abilities and buildings
Viking harbor
In the Viking chronicles, the harbors served as the lifeblood of their swift and relentless raids. These bustling hubs, filled with dragon-prowed longships, were renowned for their unmatched efficiency and speed. The Viking harbors enable the rapid deployment of raiding parties, with ships ready to launch at a moment’s notice, cutting through the waves like eagles on the hunt. The Viking harbor has an additional pier for their ships. When sent on raids, the Viking ships travel at the speed of 24 fields per hour through deep water on x1 game worlds, instead of 18 fields per hour which is the maximum for the other tribes. Attacks and reinforcements are not affected by this special ability. |
The costs and other parameters of the Viking harbors are the same as for the other tribes. You can find the full details in our previous blog post: The Harbors.
The barricade
Central to the Viking defense strategy is the robust barricade, a steadfast wall designed to protect their settlements from invaders. While not their strongest suit, as Vikings prefer to conquer rather than defend, the barricade still holds its ground.

Merchants and trade ships
While the Vikings are famed for their raiding and conquests, their merchants also play a crucial role in their economy, facilitating trade and ensuring the flow of resources. These brave traders navigate perilous seas and treacherous lands, bringing wealth and exotic goods back to their clans.

Viking hero
Hero abilityAt the heart of every Viking army stands the Viking hero, a legendary figure of unmatched strength and guile. This hero has a unique ability: when leading attacks or raids, the hero inflicts an additional 5% loyalty damage onto enemy villages. This effect is further amplified by their own great celebrations, increasing by 5 points, and can be reduced by 5 points with enemy celebrations. The hero adheres to typical chief restrictions — such as the same alliance, NAPs, not enough culture points, capital, and the presence of a residence (palace or command center) in the defending village. Yet, the Viking hero remains a key figure in the Viking army. Capable of reducing loyalty during both attacks and raids, their bonus effect is applied before that of any administrators. Nevertheless, the Viking hero alone cannot conquer a village even at 0% loyalty; a Jarl or any other chief must complete the conquest. |

Jarl
The Jarls, leaders of great wisdom and authority, are revered for their ability to inspire and command. Their strategic brilliance and charismatic leadership rally warriors and settlers alike. A Jarl’s presence in battle not only strengthens the resolve of their troops, but also ensures that newly conquered lands are integrated smoothly into their domain.

Berserkers
Berserkers, blessed or cursed with an unholy fury, become whirlwinds of destruction on the battlefield. As they charge into the fray, their rage amplifies their strength, and their fearlessness strikes terror into the hearts of their enemies. Each Berserker knows that even in death, they will take many foes with them, for their spirits are said to haunt those who strike them down.
Berserkers’ unique ability: damage on death | |||||||
Each Berserker killed while attacking or raiding (not in defense) causes 1 unit loss on the defending side. This ability is not affected by walls or watchtower bonuses.
