5 things to consider about Vikings

“Better to stand and fight, for if you run, you will only die tired.”

An ancient Viking proverb

When playing as Vikings in Travian: Northern Legends, it’s essential to understand the strengths and strategies that make this tribe unique. Here are five things to consider to make the most of your Viking experience:

  1. Warriors at Heart: Vikings excel in offensive strategies. Fast-trained, cheap and effective Thralls replaced Teutons clubswingers. Combine them with extremely powerful and at the same time crop efficient Valkyrie’s blessing, and you will receive the strongest army in the game in terms of attack power gained vs time.
  2. Berserkers’ Fury: Berserkers ability “Damage on death” works regardless of the attack vs defence ratio, defender walls and other utilities such as Watchtowers. We can fully expect berserkers to be used as “pre-hit softeners” that are sent against defenses in front of the main armies. They are quite slow on foot, so, berserkers will show their best being sent on ships.
  3. Huskarl Riders: The Huskarl Riders are cavalry all-rounder defense. If you decide that your Vikings should rather defend territories than attack others, this should be your primary choice. They offer a balanced approach to defense being almost equally effective against both infantry and cavalry. On top of that they are quite crop-efficient.
  4. The tribe of seafarers: Vikings historically were skilled navigators and warriors of the seas. In Travian, this translates to Viking faster raid movements. Position Viking settlements near deep waters to take advantage of the Viking special building.
  5. Hero special ability: Viking hero has an interesting ability to reduce loyalty of villages even during raids. Even though it’s impossible to conquer a village with the hero only, this still make Viking heroes the fastest administrators in the whole game.
