Alliance Bonuses

Alliance bonuses allow alliance members to collectively improve important game mechanics by donating resources. Once unlocked, bonuses apply to all alliance members, with some limitations for newly joined players. This article explains how alliance bonuses work, what effects they provide, how to unlock them, and which exceptions apply.


Overview of Alliance Bonuses

Alliances can unlock four different bonuses. Each bonus has five levels, and higher levels increase the effect of that bonus.

The available alliance bonuses are:

Recruitment

  • Increases troop production speed in all troop-producing buildings

Philosophy

  • Increases Culture Point (CP) production

  • CP is generated by buildings and hero helmets

  • Town Hall celebrations are not affected, except on specific special servers

Metallurgy

  • Increases troop offensive and defensive strength

  • This bonus is applied on top of existing smithy upgrades

Commerce

  • Increases merchant carrying capacity


Special Server Exceptions

On some special servers, alliance bonuses behave differently.

Annual Special 2024 / Northern Legends

  • Philosophy bonus also affects Town Hall celebrations and artworks

  • The CP limit from these sources is increased

  • Commerce bonus increases merchant speed in addition to carrying capacity


Bonus Levels and Effects

Each bonus increases gradually with its level. The effects are identical across all four bonus types.

Unlocking Alliance Bonuses

Alliance bonuses are unlocked through resource donations from alliance members.

Key rules:

  • Each bonus level requires a higher total amount of resources

  • All four bonuses have the same resource requirements and upgrade times

  • Resource type does not matter; only the total amount donated is counted

  • Resources cannot be donated while a level is actively unlocking

Once the required amount is reached, the upgrade countdown begins automatically.

Donation Limits

  • Each player has a daily donation limit

  • The limit depends on the highest bonus level currently unlocked in the alliance

  • Donation limits cannot be exceeded

For 3 Gold, players can triple a donation (e.g. 10,000 counts as 30,000), but this still cannot exceed the daily donation limit.


Interaction With Other Game Mechanics

Some alliance bonuses are multiplied with other effects:

  • Recruitment bonus is multiplied with hero items (e.g. Helmet of the Mercenary)

  • Metallurgy bonus is multiplied with smithy upgrades

  • Commerce bonus is multiplied with the Trade Office

Commerce Example

  • Gaul merchant base capacity: 750

  • Level 4 Commerce bonus (120%): 750 × 2.2 = 1,650

  • Level 20 Trade Office (400%): 750 × 5 = 3,750

  • Combined effect: 750 × 2.2 × 5 = 8,250


Daily Quests and Alliance Bonuses

Alliance contributions are part of daily quests.

  • While the last alliance bonus is unlocking, the daily quest cannot be completed

  • Once all alliance bonuses finish activating, the daily quest is automatically marked as completed for all alliance members each day


Availability for Newly Joined Players

Alliance bonuses are not fully available immediately to new members.
