Catapults

Catapults are long-range siege weapons used to destroy the resource fields and buildings of enemy villages. They can only be used in normal attacks — not raids — and need time to prepare their shots.

Catapults have low attack strength on their own. Even a small defending army can easily destroy them. To use catapults effectively, first clear the enemy defence, then follow with waves of catapult attacks supported by other troops.

Targeting

You can decide which structure the catapults should hit, depending on your Rally Point level:

Rally Point LevelAvailable Targets
1Only random target available.
3Storage buildings: Warehouse, Granary.
5Adds resource production buildings: Resource fields, Brickyard, Iron Foundry, Sawmill, Grain Mill, Bakery.
10Any building except Cranny, Stonemason’s Lodge, and Trapper.
20Two targets per attack (requires at least 20 catapults). Catapult strength is split equally between both targets.

Note:

  • When targeting is set to random, catapults can hit any structure, even those normally excluded (like Cranny).

  • Stonemason’s Lodge is always the last building in a village to be hit.

  • If the selected target does not exist, the catapults will automatically choose another random target.

  • Villages protected by certain artefacts may also cause the target to change randomly.

Multiple Buildings of the Same Type

If a village has more than one building or field of the same type (for example, multiple Warehouses or Croplands), catapults will hit the one with the highest level.
This rule does not apply to randomly selected targets.

Durability

The durability of buildings and resource fields can be increased by:

  • The Stonemason’s Lodge

  • Certain Artefacts

Increased durability means more catapults are required to destroy the structure.

Exception:

  • The World Wonder is not affected by the durability artefact or Stonemason’s Lodge.

    • The lodge cannot be built in a World Wonder village, as it can only exist in a capital.
