Item tiers & timing (know when to buy)
Items come in Tier 1 → Tier 2 → Tier 3 (same item, bigger bonus).
On faster worlds, higher tiers appear earlier; prices usually spike at release, then drop—waiting can save silver. (See the timing table by server speed in the original.)
Early game attacker & oasis farmer (fast XP, low risk)
Equip:
Helmet of Awareness (more XP → faster leveling).
Light Segmented/Light Scale Armor (damage reduction > flat Strength early).
Small Spurs (mounted hero speed) + Small Map (faster returns).
Right-hand weapon for your main attacking unit.
Horse for speed.
Bandages when escorting with cavalry (saves expensive losses).
Mid → end game attacker (ops start)
Keep the same core set; upgrade to Tier 2/3 when affordable.
Prefer Spurs over army-speed boots to avoid revealing a higher march speed to enemies.
Mid–late game defender (arrive on time, survive)
Equip:
Helmet of Awareness (XP still matters for bonuses).
Segmented/Scale/Breastplate Armor (survivability).
Boots of the Warrior (faster defensive moves). Keep Spurs too if you field lots of cav defense.
Standard (faster travel between ally villages) and Pennant (own villages).
Defensive weapon for the unit you send most (e.g., Pike for Spearmen; add others you actually field).
Horse for speed; Ointments if many waves are expected.
"I’m home" set (peace time)
Gladiator Helmet (culture points).
Optional regen pieces if you need passive healing.
Everything else can stay standard.
Always-use consumables & utility (keep a stash)
Emergency resources (feed reinforcements, rebuild Wall/Residence, etc.).
Ointments (heal after fights).
Bandages (best value on cav missions).
Tablets of Law (instant loyalty bump when targeted).
Cages (early game: clear/conquer oases; catch strong pets for defense).
Water Bucket (revive hero fast).
Books of Wisdom (respec for attack/defense; only needed until hero lvl 100).
Scrolls (finish a level to full-heal).
Training helmets (speed infantry/cavalry queues), Helmet of Awareness, Gladiator Helmet.
Any left-hand items + speed boots that reduce travel time for your role.
Defender pro-tip: carry a boot & banner toolkit
Defenders often need to cut waves or land as close as possible to incoming cats. Keep multiple combos and pick what fits the moment:
Slowest move (quick return): Map + Boots of Regeneration.
Fastest long move: Boots of the Archon + Great Standard.
Mix, test, and calculate to nail timings.
