Developing resource villages

Setting up and developing a strong resource village is one of the smartest investments you can make in Travian. It fuels your army, supports growth, and keeps your empire running smoothly. This short guide is perfect for sharing with friends or alliance members who need a clear path to fast and effective village setup.

Before You Settle: Be Ready!

  • Stay Online during and after settling. Avoid settling right before logging off!

  • Start building immediately once your settlers arrive.

  • Use hero resources from your bag to jump-start development.

  • Watch ads on longer constructions to slash 25% of build time.

  • Plan builds before logging off – queue longer constructions while you're away.

First Steps: Efficient Building Order

Here's a tested building order to get your village off the ground quickly. Stick to this while you're online (or at least able to check in regularly):

  1. Main Building → Level 10

  2. All Resource Fields → Level 2

  3. Rally Point → Level 1

  4. One Cropland → Level 5

  5. Warehouse → Level 3

  6. Granary → Level 2

  7. Marketplace → Level 1 (for incoming deliveries)

  8. Residence / Command Centre → Level 1 (to prevent conquest!)

  9. Main Building → Level 14

  10. Warehouse → Level 8

  11. Granary → Level 3

  12. Main Building → Level 15–20 (Tip: Use gold to skip 3x levels quickly)

Mid-Term Development: Focus on Resources

After your core infrastructure is set, shift focus back to resource fields:

  • All fields → Level 8

  • Then one of each → Level 10 (+ Resource buildings to Level 3)

  • Then all fields → Level 9

  • Finally all fields → Level 10 (+ Resource buildings to Level 5)

Culture Points & Infrastructure

To keep expanding, you’ll need Culture Points. Once your village generates around 250–350 CPs/day, consider:

  • Cheap CP & utility buildings: Rally Point, Marketplace, Wall, Barracks, Academy, Smithy, Stable, Embassy, Townhall, Trade Office.

  • Run small celebrations in the Townhall as soon as you can afford it.

Pro tip: This build order is flexible. Prioritize faster, cheaper upgrades while waiting on expensive constructions.

Long-Term Adjustments & Expansion

Once you’ve hit the basics:

  • Use a "starter image" or checklist to ensure all essentials are covered.

  • Then customize:

    • Upgrade Embassy, Hospital, etc., for more CPs.

    • Skip the Hero Mansion if there are no nearby oases.

    • Remove unused buildings (e.g., Cranny) and add a second Granary if needed.

A well-developed resource village can generate ~1000 Culture Points per day.

Final Tips

  • Adjust based on your personal strategy and account goals.

  • Don’t overbuild – resource villages are support hubs, not frontline cities.

  • Use them to feed and fund your main army villages or future capitals.
