Reducing crop consumption & Horse Drinking Trough

In Travian: Legends, there are several ways to reduce troop crop consumption, allowing you to maintain larger armies without running out of food.
These reductions come from specific artefacts, World Wonder mechanics, or tribe-exclusive buildings.

Ways to Reduce Crop Consumption

1. Diet Control Artefact

The Diet Control Artefact decreases the crop consumption of all your troops, both at home and abroad.
Depending on the artefact’s size, the reduction is between 25% and 50%.

  • Small Artefact: 25% reduction

  • Large or Unique Artefact: 50% reduction

  • Applies to all units from villages owned by the player with the active artefact.

2. World Wonder Villages

When construction plans appear during the endgame, all troops stationed in a World Wonder (WW) village consume only 50% of their usual crop.
This mechanic applies automatically and is essential for maintaining large WW defense armies.

3. Horse Drinking Trough (Romans Only)

The Horse Drinking Trough is a Roman-exclusive building that reduces crop consumption and training time for cavalry units.

Effects per level:

  • −1% cavalry training time per level

  • At specific levels, cavalry units consume 1 less crop each:

    • Level 10: Equites Legati (scouts) consume 1 crop less

    • Level 15: Equites Imperatoris consume 1 crop less

    • Level 20: Equites Caesaris consume 1 crop less
