Item Crafting is a feature introduced in Reign of Fire, the 2025 Annual Special. This system allows you to upgrade, break down, and create equipment items using materials. All explanations below follow the original mechanics exactly.
Item Rarity and Materials
All equipment items have a rarity level:
- Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic
In addition, there is a new consumable item called material, which also comes in all four rarity levels.
Equipment items still have quality tiers, but materials do not.
Common, uncommon, and rare items may be found on adventures (rarity influences how late in the game they appear).
Epic items cannot be found in adventures — they can only be created via crafting.
Refine
If you have two identical items, you can refine them:
Both items are consumed.
One material of the same rarity is also required.
The resulting item keeps the same type and quality, but its rarity increases by one level.
Epic items cannot be refined further.
This process has a guaranteed result.
Smelt
Any equipment item can be smelted into materials:
You receive one material instantly, or two materials if you wait for the smelting process to finish (or use Gold to speed it up).
Materials received always match the rarity of the smelted item.
Smelting time depends on the server speed.
Forge
Forging allows you to create a new random item:
Requires 3 materials of any rarity.
Before confirming, you will see the chance distribution for the resulting rarity and quality.
Higher rarity materials increase the chance of crafting higher rarity equipment.
Item Type Selection
The item type is fully random:
Equal chance for: right-hand, left-hand, body, helmet, boots.
Within each category, every specific item also has an equal chance of appearing.
Reforge Option (Gold Feature)
Instead of accepting the first crafted item, you may reforge:
First reforge shows a second item.
You may choose between the two, or reforge one of them again.
Each additional reforge costs increasing amounts of Gold.
You can always choose only one final item at the end.
Each reforge generates a new item using the same random rules.
