Special Servers - Regions and Population

In annual specials like Reign of Fire, the Travian: Legends world takes place on a map of Ancient Europe divided into 87 regions.
Victory Points (VP) are stored in villages, and both alliances and regional population determine control over them.

Regional Control and Victory Points

Each of the 87 regions can be controlled by an alliance.

  • When your alliance controls a region, all villages inside it generate Victory Points over time.

  • Members of that alliance can also activate the Ancient Power (artefact) of the region, if available.

How to Unlock a Region

Before a region can be settled or controlled, it must first be unlocked.

A region unlocks when the top 5 alliances in that area together reach a combined population of at least 4,000.

Notes:

  • Population from other alliances, players without an alliance, banned or vacation-mode players, and Natar villages does not count.

  • Once unlocked, a region cannot be locked again, but if population drops below 4,000:

    • The region stops producing Victory Points.

    • Its Ancient Power is temporarily deactivated.

Settling New Villages

You can only settle new villages in:

  • Unlocked regions, or

  • Regions bordering an unlocked region.

The only exception: spawn regions, where new players appear — those can always be settled.

Spawning Order

New players spawn in specific regions within each map quarter. Once all spawn spots are filled, new players appear in the next region in the order below.

Gaining Control of a Region

Once a region is unlocked, alliances can compete for control.

If an alliance holds more than 50% of the regional population (counting only the top 5 alliances in that region), they begin to take control.

  • This control process takes 24 hours, regardless of game speed.

  • If the alliance keeps the majority after that period, they secure the region.

You can view current population and control data in:

  • Statistics → Region tab, or

  • Any Embassy located within that region.

Region Status

Region statusHow to achieveEffects
LockedAll regions start locked.Cannot be settled unless it neighbours an unlocked region. A few starting regions are an exception. It is also always possible to settle a second village in a region where you have your capital.
UnlockedTop5 alliances in the region have to achieve a total of 4,000 population in the region. Can be settled and contested. Cannot be locked again.
ContestedOne of the alliances has to achieve over 50% population in the region. Only the population of the top 5 alliances count. Can degrade to unlocked if the alliance loses the majority.
SecuredThe alliance has to hold the majority for over 24 hours continuously.Members of the controlling alliance can activate the ancient power of the region (if it has one) and their villages in the region receive victory points, as long as region population is still over 4,000.

Regional Population Drops

If the total population in a region falls below 4,000, that region temporarily:

  • Stops producing Victory Points.

  • Disables its Ancient Power until population recovers.

However:

  • The region’s ownership and conquest mechanics remain unchanged.

  • Once the region rises above 4,000 again, VP production and Ancient Powers reactivate.

Examples:

  • If a region is unlocked but drops below 4,000:

    • Alliances can still conquer it, but VP production pauses.

  • If an alliance already controls the region:

    • They stop gaining VP, and members can’t activate the Ancient Power.

    • Any powers already activated remain active until they expire.

Tip: To keep control and maximize Victory Points, encourage alliance members to keep their regional population growing — falling below 4,000 can cost you both power and progress.
